AHCX LADIES VISIT NTCHISI DISTRICT HOSPITAL

Ladies from AHCX visited Ntchisi District Hospital on 12th December, 2014 to cheer the sick as part of AHL Commodities Exchange Corporate Social Responsibility. Ms Bertha Migodi, the District Health Officer (DHO), welcomed the ladies. Among other wards, the team visited Paediatric and Maternity (Kangaroo Mother Care and Nursery) sections. The visit was timed to coincide with The Worldwide Child Health Week which is commemorated between 8th to 12th December in Malawi.

Ntchisi district is AHCX domain for Soya beans, ground nuts, beans and maize. Producers and traders either individuals or cooperatives have traded on platform by commodity deposits made through Mponela and Kasungu AHCX warehouses. It was a noble task to cheer the sick from such communities considering that we live in a community as Malawi culture. The Exchange holds the new born babies’ section as important component of Primary Health Care System as it is a genesis for future producers and traders that will sustain the growing Malawi’s agrarian economy.

In the spirit of Christmas which is a season of sharing, AHCX donated assorted items that included orange squash, sugar, soap and salt to the Paediatric ward and eight (8) electric heaters to the Maternity (Kangaroo Mother Care and Nursery) ward. The electric heaters were a special request made by the DHO prior to the visit and AHCX response was a measure of the existing mutual communication and relationship with the communities. The picture below shows smiles from hosts, beneficiaries and AHCX lady representatives as a moment of truth when a symbolic presentation was made.

The gestures from the picture above and beyond from both hospital administration and patients were evidence that beneficiaries were grateful to the Exchange for the visit and donations that were made at the right time. They urged to company to continue responding to the needs of Ntchisi District Hospital and other health care centres in need, as this will also promote awareness of the company and the services it offers to the communities.

Other members of AHL group that accompanied AHCX ladies were female representatives from Agricultural Trading Company (ATC), Malawi Leaf Company Ltd (MLCL), Tobacco Investments Limited (TIL) and Auction Holdings Limited (AHL).
